AI - I tend to agree that AI is a bubble, but another thing to consider is how long can the bubble continue before people start to come to their senses about the numbers?
The only real analog we have during our lifetime is the internet bubble. Looked up (on google) the actual dates of when things started getting jiggy with the internet bubble. From my memory, the buzz about the internet really started in earnest around two main things: 1) When the Netscape Navigator browser came out 2) When Amazon website started (and it was only books back then). So here's the dates:
Netscape Navigator was first released to the public as Netscape Navigator 1.0 on December 15, 1994
The Amazon website started on July 16, 1995
The NASDAQ Composite index peaked on March 10, 2000
Even though the AI stuff seems like it's been around forever, a lot of that is probably just because the internet now overwhelms us with info about it. I'd say the AI mania really began in earnest when ChatGPT came out. So I looked up that date.
The ChatGPT website was launched by OpenAI on November 30, 2022, as a free research preview.
So if the internet bubble is any guide, the AI bubble might continue to late 2027 or some time in 2028.
