Once again, we get another PR scraped together out of pocket lint.  Thompson is not reporting actual progress, he is reporting about the intention to make progress.  We can safely ignore this PR, like so many before.
Having said that, it seems clear that Thompson is making a big PR push, both from his pocket lint PRs and also thru the silly stories put out on 24/7 news.
If we are lucky, this PR campaign is a deliberate effort on Thompson's part to get more eyeballs on the company before big news is released.  That can amplify the boost from solid news.
I just wish Thompson could find something with more nutritional value than pocket lint.  Maybe he could find a broken potato chip under the couch cushions?
Or maybe Thompson is conducting a scientific experiment to see how crazed investors can become with an endless release of insubstantial news.  The Thompson pocket lint torture might one day replace the Chinese water drip torture.  After all, it saves water...
