.......the TAXABILITY of the FDIC payout............super, super legally complicated...............and you are correct, relative to Guy's thought process when he dropped the bank's suit.........it was an appeal, by the bank against the OCC...................

....BOTTOM LINE, brokenclockbob..............the FDIC has a distribution sheet.............one page, simple simon...............dollar amount, parties.........AND IDENTIFIER...................six boxes to check.................."QUALIFIED".....dividend.............there are other choices............litigation......???........special circumstance.............???..........other...........

......KEY HERE is..................IRS.................1099-R....................this is the payout sheet equivalent, but it is the 1099-R................and the brokerage firms mirror this................QUALIFIED dividend (20% and is combined with the fudge, for taxability)...........versus standard DIVIDEND (tax bracket %).........

......if standard dividend.............I'll make the deposit, protest and then possibly sue......$400K difference, for me, est.........we'll see......no worries........my other accounts are ROTH IRAs, so I am saving $3mm+, right off the top, on day one.........hello...........
