Looks like a abandoned mine. FWIW. it goes down into the earth. Not a pile of slag as claimed. Nice work!
Here's what can be observed in the image:
Open-pit excavation: The central and most prominent feature is a large, terraced depression in the earth, characteristic of an open-pit mine or quarry where minerals or aggregates are extracted from the surface.
Terraced levels: The excavation displays distinct, stepped levels or benches, which are typically created during the extraction process to ensure stability and facilitate material removal.
Surrounding infrastructure: Near the edges of the excavation, there are several buildings and structures, likely part of the mining or quarrying operation, such as processing plants, administrative offices, or storage facilities.
Vegetation: The area surrounding the mine/quarry is partially covered with green vegetation, indicating natural landscapes adjacent to the industrial site.
Scale and Scope: The aerial perspective clearly demonstrates the significant scale of the operation, showcasing a large industrial footprint within the landscape.
