Trump and his allies latched onto this story about Lisa Cook, the Federal Reserve governor, saying she somehow committed mortgage fraud by claiming two homes as her primary residence. Sounds juicy, right? Until you actually look at the paperwork.

Reuters dug up the documents, and they tell a different story. Cook’s Atlanta property? Clearly listed as a vacation home. On her federal clearance forms? A second home. Not a primary residence. Which means the “two primary residences” narrative falls apart the second you fact-check it. But of course, Trump needed a pretext—any pretext—to push her out of the Fed, and this was the one Bill Pulte handed him.

This is how the playbook works: invent a scandal, amplify it through MAGA echo chambers, and hope no one checks the receipts. The truth here is simple—these documents don’t show fraud, they show the fraudulence of the people making the accusation.
