Alliances are important in the battle for influence worldwide and it's not good for America if Trump drives major countries even closer to China than they might naturally have been. And any American leader (including Trump) is between a rock and a hard place in actions to support Ukraine, most all of us are in favor of, while at the same time not making enemies of other countries who do not support Ukraine's independence. Noted, Trump is hitting India hard for buying Putin oil while he is not doing the same with China. Also noted, China has stayed relatively neutral re the Ukraine war.
Modi is another strongman as Trump wants to be, who is diminishing India's democracy as
Erdogan and Orban have Turkey's and Hungary's, and as Trump is doing in America.
