Grand Opening of Thornleigh Nursing Home – A New Home for Our Seniors with Innovation and Care ✨
Last Saturday, August 16, we celebrated the official opening of Thornleigh Nursing Home, the fifth facility under Australian Nursing Home Foundation (ANHF). The event brought together government representatives, community leaders, and supporters in a truly warm and festive atmosphere.
We were honoured to welcome Hon. Jodie Harrison MP, NSW Minister for Women, Seniors, and the Prevention of Domestic and Sexual Violence, representing Premier Chris Minns, who also shared his congratulations in a video message. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Chunsheng Wang, Deputy Consul General of China in Sydney, Mr.Alister Henskens SC MP, Shadow Attorney General of NSW, Cr Janelle McIntosh (FICDA), Deputy Mayor of Hornsby, and Cr Benjamin Cai, Deputy Mayor of Strathfield.
Several leaders who couldn’t attend in person also recorded special video messages of support, including Hon. Sam Rae MP (Minister for Aged Care & Seniors), Ms. Sally Sitou MP, Hon. Dr. Andrew Charlton MP, Mr. Jason Yat-sen Li MP, and Deputy Mayor Nancy Liu.
The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Dion Woo and Ms. Daisy Liang, ANHF’s Consumer Engagement Manager, together with Daisy, an intelligent robot from Singapore. Robot Daisy greeted guests in fluent Cantonese, adding a lively and interactive touch to the event.
The ceremony was filled with wonderful highlights – from the lively lion dance, to a heartwarming video showcasing the daily life of our residents……
Thornleigh Nursing Home embodies both tradition and innovation – designed around the Chinese “Four Gentlemen” (Plum, Orchid, Chrysanthemum, Bamboo), and offering 67 beds, cultural dining, wellness programs, music therapy, and modern facilities.
Special thanks to renowned painter Mr. Shizhao Leung, who generously donated his Silver Chrysanthemum series of 88 artworks, enriching the cultural atmosphere of our new home.
The opening of Thornleigh Nursing Home marks not only a milestone for ANHF but also a step forward in delivering high-quality, culturally appropriate care to seniors in Northern Sydney.
