To be clear, there are misleading references purposely being thrown out and a general misunderstanding by a few.

The escrow markers issued by the Litigation Trust (LT Escrow markers) were done so as a request to the court. Why? in case there was a distribution left over when higher priority claims were made and paid. Was it actually needed? Not really... The same source the LT used to produce those escrow markers were records from the DTC.

Fast forward: The LT made all the payments available to claimants with the assets THEY were provided and were left with what was referred to as a "de minimis" amount. Because it would have cost more to distribute such a small amount than was available to pay out to the markers... they made a donation. Then they ordered the escrows removed because they would have had to pay to keep them and the LT was out of money and done.

Today, now, currently... THE DTC still has those records and if needed could make that same information available to the trustees at Wells Fargo Bank or JPM. WFB is the same bank that JPM has been sending the MBS proceeds to for distribution(s) to owners of the Mortgage Backed Securities originally issued by Washington Mutual.

As an investor, each person that bought Washington Mutual prior to and after they filed for bankruptcy should have kept records of those share amounts as a prudent investor.

As a releasing shareholder, each investor should also have kept those records showing they released.

However, those records still exist and reference the brokerage house where the shares were purchased. The brokerage house should still have those records if you still have accounts with them.

So if some "stain" wants to post BS on a message board telling you those records and your escrow markers are gone...well the LT markers are gone but so what. The DTC and your brokerage house still has them.

However, if your going to invest and put your money out there... its always a good idea to keep your own records of what you own.
