Left-Wingers Staged a Protest Against Trump’s D.C. Crime Crackdown — What Follows Completely Backfires on Them (Video)

President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has sent the political left into full meltdown mode. The move, which is completely legal under the Home Rule Act of 1973, came after a surge of violent crime and a series of high-profile murders rattled the nation’s capital.
Before acting, Trump’s administration had asked the Democrat-controlled city council to roll back its so-called “criminal justice reform” measures that were letting dangerous offenders back on the streets. Predictably, they refused. Now, Trump has taken direct control — and the city’s most progressive residents are not taking it well.
On Monday, a group of angry left-wing protesters gathered in Dupont Circle, carrying banners that read “Trump Must Go Now” as they marched down Massachusetts Avenue toward 14th Street NW.

But these were the people demanding Trump stop his crackdown on crime in the parts of D.C. where murder, carjackings, and assaults are a daily reality.
And then, the unthinkable happened.
Just as protesters were making their way toward the end of their route, mere blocks away in Logan Circle, a person was apparently murdered in broad daylight. Video of the aftermath shows first responders frantically working at the scene.

It’s a tragic reminder of exactly why Trump’s move was necessary in the first place — and the irony couldn’t be starker. The very people protesting his effort to make D.C. safer had violence erupt practically on their doorstep mid-march.
For years, city leaders have downplayed the severity of D.C.’s crime wave, manipulating statistics and dismissing concerns. But no amount of political spin can erase what’s happening on the streets.
In the end, this isn’t about “fascism” or “threats to democracy,” as Trump’s critics keep shouting. It’s about stopping the bloodshed and saving lives. And if a murder happening in the middle of an anti-crime-crackdown protest doesn’t drive that point home, nothing will.
