I think they should acquire Extropic while they are still small beans.

From Google A.I. --

Extropic is developing physics-based AI chips and algorithms that utilize out-of-equilibrium thermodynamic systems to perform probabilistic computations for generative AI. They are essentially building a new type of computer that embraces the randomness found in physical processes, rather than fighting it like traditional computers. This approach aims to overcome the limitations of current digital hardware in handling the complex probability distributions required by generative AI, leading to faster and more energy-efficient AI systems.

With that tech, they are in the A.I. game deeper, and they can use Extropic's chips to run their quantum hardware in a hybrid fashion until more advanced models take over. Also, even if they don't have a great use for Extropic's hardware, they at least control it, which prevents their advancement being stymied by some darkhorse company.

Unless Extropic is too expensive to acquire. Then I say don't bother. IonQ has been on a spending spree the past year. I would prefer they shuts things down for a while and tighten up their spending. I would rather not see the outstanding shares increase any more.

But if Extropic's thermodynamic computing tech is the real deal, it would be unbelievable for IonQ to control it as well as quantum computing. Have the creme de la creme of TWO next-gen computing technologies would be devastating for their competition.
