Correct. And that was always the move from the moment Chapman transitioned. The reason they kept him on as chairman was to prevent panic from dumbasses while De Masi got settled. Chapman got things kick started, but he wasn't much of a wheeler-dealer like De Masi is. De Masi is a lightning rod -- just what IonQ needs right now. And I wouldn't be surprised if they transition to someone else in 2-5 years once IonQ establishes quantum infrastructure supremacy (which is more important than having the fastest quantum hardware).

Listen everyone, there are going to be quite a few companies making quantum computers in the future, for various use cases and specific company/industry needs. But only a few are going to control the infrastructure. I obviously think that company is Ionq for the western world. China will be it's own thing, but most of Asia will go with western tech. Russia will probably beg for Chinese tech like the losers they are. IonQ could conceivably control like half of all quantum computing and communications worldwide for the next 20-30 years. That's crazy.
