Wonder if people would have freaked out if Biden or Obama wanted to do the build?

I think it would have depended on what they wanted to do. They're responsible for furnishing their private quarters, and sometimes different presidents use different rooms in the Residence for different purposes. And I think most of them end up adding a few small things, like Michelle's vegetable garden. And I think somebody installed a tennis court. Harry Truman added the Oval Office.

But they were all reasonable people who didn't suffer from the grandiosity that comes with narcissism. And they didn't have appalling taste.
