When I point out that Trump’s idea of trade deals seems counterproductive even in terms of his claimed goal of boosting manufacturing, I get some pushback from readers along these lines: “Oh, yeah? If you’re such an expert on trade negotiations, tell me what deal you think you could have made.”

They aren't even "deals". He doesn't "negotiate", he dictates a number, and expects to be obeyed. He's like a spoiled teenager, and that's a kind description.

All his life, he's made a point of surrounding himself with yes men. That was very poor preparation for the presidency.

And of course, he's not very bright, either. If he were intelligent, he wouldn't be the braggart he is.
