Well, I know alittle about missle defense - and while rockets have their place on the lower tier - if you have aspirations of real 100% "dome like" protection - and you want to protect against ICBMs and the like (in addition to everything else)  - you are going to need "space" assets as well. Bottom line is you are going to need ALOT of assets - so much so that in a country as vast as the US anyone who knows anything about missle defense knows a "Golden Dome" is just a cost prohibitive pipe-dream...but have at it...fine by me. 
Do agree that if Musk wasn't a complete narcissist he would buy RocketLab now - at this point I bet he could get it for $50B - about 4-5 times less than what it will most likely we worth in 2-5 years.
