How social media assassination conspiracies are uniting pro- and anti-Trump voters

Wild Mother - the online alias of a woman called Desirée - lives in the mountains of Colorado, where she posts videos to 80,000 followers about holistic wellness and bringing up her little girl. She wants Donald Trump to win the presidential election.
About 70 miles north in the suburbs of Denver is Camille, a passionate supporter of racial and gender equality who lives with a gaggle of rescue dogs and has voted Democrat for the past 15 years.
The two women are poles apart politically - but they both believe assassination attempts against Mr Trump were staged.
Their views on the shooting in July .. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw5yrv2kwexo .. and the apparent foiled plot earlier this month were shaped by different social media posts pushed to their feeds, they both say.
I travelled to Colorado - which became a hotbed of conspiracy theories about the 2020 election being stolen - for the BBC Radio 4 podcast Why Do You Hate Me? USA. I wanted to understand why these evidence-free staged assassination theories seemed to have spread so far across the political spectrum and the consequences for people like Camille and Wild Mother.
Dozens of evidence-free posts I found suggesting both incidents were staged have racked up more than 30 million views on X. Some of these posts came from anti-Trump accounts that did not seem to have a track record of sharing theories like this, while a smaller share were posted by some of the former president’s supporters.
For Democrat Camille, Trump’s team orchestrated this to boost his chances of winning the election.
Wild Mother - who already follows QAnon, the unfounded conspiracy theory which claims Donald Trump is involved in a secret war against an elite cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles - wants to believe Trump’s own team staged the attack in order to frame his supposed enemies in the "Deep State".
The Deep State is claimed to be a shadowy coalition of security and intelligence services looking to thwart certain politicians.
There is no evidence to support either of the women’s theories.

Inches from death: An hour that shook US election

A full 10 minutes had elapsed since Crooks was spotted on the roof.
God Bless the USA (I'm Proud To Be An American) by Lee Greenwood blasts from festival loudspeakers hoisted high in the air.
Walking past several gold-trimmed flags, Trump shakes hands with supporters to applause and cheers. Within a minute he is at the podium, the crowd as his backdrop chanting "USA! USA!" and holding banners reading "Trump 2024" and "You're Fired".
"This is a big crowd, a big, big beautiful crowd," he tells the gathering in its thousands. "Hello Butler and hello to Pennsylvania, I'm thrilled to be back."
Around this time, approximately 140m away, Crooks is challenged by police.
According to Tom Knights, Butler's township manager, four of the town's traffic officers are radioed about a suspicious person on the roof. They "instinctively" bolt from their posts to confront the danger.

One of the officers is boosted by a colleague and pokes their head over the roof lip. They find themselves in the sights of an AR-15-style rifle held by a long-haired man with glasses. The officer is in an impossible position, and drops eight feet to the ground, according to Mr Knights.
The officers radio another alert, but Crooks remains unhindered.
Mr Smith later recalled continuing to point at the roof and yell to police. "I'm standing here like this," he told the BBC, "telling them 'hey there's a guy up here', and then I'm thinking in my mind like, 'why is Trump still talking? Why do I still hear him on stage?'"
But Trump is in full flow, launching into familiar topics about the country being "stolen", the "rigged" 2020 election, "crooked" Joe Biden and "laughing" Kamala Harris.
Seven minutes in, at 18:09, he turns the topic to immigration. "We have millions and millions of people in our country that shouldn't be here. Dangerous people. Criminals. Drug dealers," he says.
At about 18:11, he goes "off auto-cue" and turns to a chart on his right showing immigration levels, and rails at Mr Biden's border policies.
"And if you want to really see something that said... take a look what happened..."
He doesn't finish his thought. The time is 18:12, and Crooks fires his first shot.

The would-be assassin was dead, Trump had survived, but answers are yet to be given about how this could have happened so easily.

FBI Is Not Fully Convinced Trump Was Struck by a Bullet

As the investigation into the assassination attempt continues, Wray offered the committee some new insights—including the revelation that Crooks tried to research how far away the shooter was from former President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in 1963.
P - Trump responded with a post on Truth Social while the hearing was still taking place, calling for Wray to resign—but not for anything he said about the assassination attempt. Instead, Trump lambasted the FBI director for claiming that he found his interactions with President Biden “uneventful and unremarkable.”

Bullet? Shard of Glass? Welcome to Donald Trump’s Ear Wound Theater
REBEL WITHOUT A GAUZE
[...]On Wednesday, FBI Director Christopher Wray triggered a firestorm when he told a congressional hearing on the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, “With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”
[...]There is no minimizing the gravity of the event that took place that “beautiful day in the early evening.” But the controversy over whether or not Trump was actually hit by a bullet is a self-inflicted wound made by the former president. That is because unlike in past such events, there was no formal medical report from the doctors that treated Trump after the shooting. As Rep. Dan Goldman of New York noted, “We have not seen any medical records. We have not had an independent doctor other than a hyper-partisan elected member of Congress comment on what happened.”

That's one hell of a video. Chief question i have is can we be certain it is not doctored.
If the so-called assassination was faked Trump would have a huge debt to pay for that.
