$ZENA BREAKING NEWS- As of July 10th, 2025, the New DOD Directive Paves a Pathway for Defense Contracts - The Defense Innovation Unit's (DIU) "Blue UAS Cleared List", which includes US-made and NDAA-compliant drones, will continue to serve as a key resource for procurement, according to Naval Technology. However, the new directive emphasizes a broader approach to drone acquisition beyond solely relying on this list.

In essence, the DoD is seeking to accelerate the adoption of drones by empowering lower-level commanders and simplifying procurement processes while still ensuring national security and prioritizing domestic production.

Read Below the added benefits:

*A new Department of Defense (DoD) directive, reported by Fox News on July 10, 2025, aims to accelerate the procurement and deployment of drones for military use.

*This directive, in response to White House Executive Order 14307, "Unleashing American Drone Dominance," grants more autonomy to frontline commanders (O-6 level: colonels and Navy captains) to acquire, operate, and adapt Group 1 and 2 drones based on mission needs.

*A key aspect of this policy is removing certain certification hurdles for drone procurement, aiming to streamline the process and expand opportunities for companies, particularly those building Group 1 and 2 systems.

*This means that commanders can now directly purchase and test drones, including 3D-printed prototypes and commercial-off-the-shelf systems, provided they meet national security criteria.

*The policy also encourages rapid innovation and fielding, mandates the establishment of dedicated drone units, and streamlines training.

*While this directive creates a pathway for quicker drone acquisition, it's important to note the continuing prohibition on purchasing drones from "American Security Drone Act-covered foreign entities" like those found on the Federal Acquisition Security Council's list, according to Acquisition.GOV.
