Yep, pepper balls are the same type and 'grain' of pb's as well as I believe they are using the same soft shell projectile, just with different fillers. Pepper balls can contain capsaicin.

Got sprayed by the pepper spray we carried and I swear I had shit running out of my ears. It was incredibly horrible. It's like your face is melting. A good thing after is I had an amazingly clear sinus for weeks.

They can absolutely cause major damage or kill. In the face or temple can kill.
