Defensive driving, whatever you drive. Always expect the other to do the wrong thing. For a time until new admin. canned it we had an activity program one afternoon at school, i arranged a car and did defensive driving for those old enough to drive. Kids loved that activity afternoon, then admin. keener on spending more time on the more academic stuff cut it.
We have many young and old trees where branches encroach on sidewalks, so when walking if a family is approaching, or a group or a youngster being pushed i pause and with a "Family first" or some appropriate else, let them through. Mostly they acknowledge it, sometimes not so i relate to your thank yous sometimes.
It's fun walking when going out as you get all sorts of life's little things happening. For me it's wishing the day was over while walking home which is the chore. Always tired, longing for bed. LOL
