Nebraska hospital closes citing Medicaid cuts. Republican’s death bill claims first rural hospital.

Curtis, in Southwest Nebraska, is one of the first places to feel the pain of the Republicans big beautiful death bill. This is just the beginning.

Republican senators and congresspeople were just too busy swearing fealty to their orange idol and giving him his massive Medicaid cuts. Much more important to them than this small town.

McCook-based Community Hospital said it is shutting down its clinic in Curtis, a town of about 900 people.

The Curtis Medical Center has been in operation for more than 30 years.

“Unfortunately, the current financial environment, driven by anticipated federal budget cuts to Medicaid, has made it impossible for us to continue operating all of our services, many of which have faced significant financial challenges for years,” Community Hospital CEO Troy Bruntz said in a statement.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. What about doctor’s offices that service a majority of their Medicaid patients? Those offices will eventually close, because of the GOP death bill.

The tentacles of these Medicaid cuts will reach far and wide. Look for more announcements like this one. Heartbreaking.
