A great many schools are banning the use of AI bots.
Did you really think that the brick cell phones of the early 90's would not become 'smart'? DID you foresee their accessing the Internet?
Yes and no. The real problem with those "brick" phones was battery life. On my first, I had about 20 minutes talk time. There were huge technical strides made with cellphones in the late '90s. Smaller handsets, text messages, better battery life. I'm trying to remember when you could first use them to go online.
But pretty much no one expected what Steve Jobs presented when he announced the iPhone. It was a technological development that really did "change everything".
I really, really do not want to think that a few decades from now, AI will be considered equivalent to, say, Shakespeare. As smart, as profound. A real writer. And yet, I think that's exactly what many people are coming to believe, and some of them are wannabe students.
