The question is, and I can't get my head wrapped around it, is, are things worse now than they were in the past, or do we simply have access to a lot more info about how bad things are now?

Sometimes I ask people to name a time in the past when things were better for Americans than they are now. And, maybe, the environment aside (maybe), no one seems to be able to come up with any sort of definitive answer.

Instead of complaining about how bad Trump & Co are (which I do with the best of them), we should maybe be thankful that he's so stupid and incompetent and has surrounded himself with the same types, so that he'll never be able to pull off his wannabe dictator thing. And by going up against him now, we will be better prepared for the time when a smart, competent asshole tries to do what he's trying now.
