I couldn't imagine what the temperatures of a cooling pond out there would be. We have nuclear plants here in Illinois and you can fish in the middle of winter because they never freeze.

Of course there was always a joke that you'd catch a fish with three eyes but honestly, that water needs to be cooled to cycle it back through the reactor process and a desert baking in the sun doesn't seem like an opportunity to open up a nuclear plant in.

Granted, I'm not even close to a scientist or claim to know anything in that arena but that seems kind of far fetched to me in a place where 130 degree air temperatures are a normal occurrence and water is so scarce that it evaporates quicker than you can drink it.
