Actually, I would advocate for a 3 state solution, Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. The latter 2 are each larger than several existing countries and that way one country wouldn't be divided into 2 and each could elect whomever, given the chance to vote, of course.
Israel left Gaza 20 years ago. I'm not going to rationalize what Israel has been doing, but if Hamas had spent what it has on tunnels and munitions on infrastructure instead, it would be an entirely different situation. Apparently they haven't even set up a reliable power grid in all this time.
I'd like to see Israel open manufacturing facilities in Gaza and employ mostly Palestinians. If Gazans were paid a fair wage with, say, vacation time and health insurance, their desire to eliminate the Zionist entity would dissipate. Soft power.
