One of the few metrics that can be adjusted by shareholders with little effort either up or down, reverse split to increase share price per share or a normal stock split to increase shares and lower the price per share.
Reverse split once the company get out of the ditch and back on the road and building revenues. 100 million shares seems to be the sweet spot to get new investors interested. If your business sucks and you have no growth it doesn't matter what you do regarding number of shares.
