We have a serious worker shortage in the US right now, and we cannot afford to make or manufacture certain things in America anymore, due to union wages getting out of hand vs. other countries, e.g. the avg labor cost per hour to build an auto in the US is $71, vs. $40 in Canada and $12 in Mexico. So, China fits the bill for some things. What we need is fair trade. And, we cannot just start manufacturing everting in America. Our old plants are obsolete, and it takes 3 years at least to build a new auto manufacturing or other manufacturing plant, and we do not have enough skilled unemployed workers who want to work in manufacturing. Not to mention so much is now automated, so the notion that we can bring all the old manufacturing jobs bask is a fairy tale.
