TRUMP: 'I COULDN'T CARE LESS' IF CAR PRICES SPIKE!

In an interview with NBC News, President Donald Trump said he “couldn’t care less” if automakers raised their prices due to new tariffs. On Wednesday, Trump announced 25% tariffs on auto imports, set to begin on April 3.

When asked in the same interview what his message was for motor industry CEOs, Trump said: "The message is congratulations, if you make your car in the United States, you’re going to make a lot of money. If you don’t, you’re going to have to probably come to the United States, because if you make your car in the United States, there is no tariff."

The president also pushed back against reporting in The Wall Street Journal that he had pressured CEOs not to raise prices. "No, I never said that. I couldn’t care less if they raise prices, because people are going to start buying American-made cars.”

If the cost of tariffs are fully passed to consumers, the average price on imported vehicles could spike by $12,500, according to The Associated Press.
