I think it was the right decision for all the reasons posted here.
"HOW? Schumer isn't going to be able to stop one single thing trump is planning to do. Trump doesn't listen to the courts or judges so he's going to listen to Schumer and the dems? It makes no sense what point the 10 dem traitors were trying to accomplish. What made Schumer go from saying he was against this bill two days before, to getting 9 accomplices to blow up the deal they had already agreed to with the house?"
In a shutdown dems couldn't go to courts. The fact that Trump has to appeal or deal with court decisions, even if does all he can to not listen to them, does not take away from the fact that all that would be far worse in a shutdown. In a shutdown the conversations going on now about the deportation would not even be taking place.
Mark Zaid, a prominent lawyer who has represented whistleblowers during both Democratic and Republican administrations, wrote on social media that the nation was moving rapidly toward such a crisis “where the Executive Branch refuses to abide by a judicial order.”
Zaid, who recently had his security clearance revoked by the Trump administration, added, “The Executive Branch does not get to decide to refuse to obey a court order simply because it does not like it. The more this happens, the less we will look like the America all of us grew up in.” https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=175940253
In a shutdown that chat would be totally irrelevant.
You say it makes no sense with Schumer's group were trying to accomplish. They were trying to prevent a shutdown. Then you ask what made Schumer change his mind. The answer to that he has made clear, they decided a shutdown would be worse than the shitty cr. For the reasons which have been repeatedly posted here.
One, and two, Musk wanted a shutdown because he knew it would make things easier for him to do without any legal moves against him at all.
If it is definitely established Trump has defied the courts the case for impeachment is stronger. More the better.
