In a firebrand speech, French senator Claude Malhuret described Elon Musk - whose backing of a far-right German party has seen Tesla sales plummet in Europe - as a 'jester high on Ketamine' and likened US President Donald Trump to Nero, the Roman Emperor from 64 to 68 AD, who is infamous for his cruelty and excesses.

Malhuret, 74, also called Musk a "traitor" for his stance on the Ukraine war, with the world's wealthiest man recently describing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "evil."

The leader of the center-right party, The Independents, didn't stop there, however. He also described President Trump - who has presided over a slump in the United States' popularity in the UK and Europe, according to a new poll - as a "dictator."

Speaking before the French senate, Claude Malhuret launched an extraordinary attack on Donald Trump and Elon Musk

As reported by The Daily Beast, Malhuret added: “We were at war with a dictator; we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor.”

In the past few days, Trump reduced military assistance to Ukraine following harsh criticism of President Zelensky during their meeting at the White House, with the President and his Vice President, JD Vance, engaging in a heated exchange with Zelensky.

Malhuret, sporting a pin featuring Ukraine's national flag, mentioned Musk's use of ketamine, a substance the billionaire has confessed to using biweekly to manage what he described as a “negative chemical state."
