Seems to me the dems do this for a couple of reasons. They don't want to threaten their seat. They don't want the other side coming back to sue them, again that's worried about themself first and the issue after.

I'd say we're far beyond that into the realm that they won't have a seat to worry about if this coup is not stopped.
