When?
I remember vividly the interview when newly confirmed Steve Mnuchin took over at Treasury and was interviewed in April 2017 WITH DJT at his side and spoke of ending the conservatorships and how the money taken was used to prop up obamacare, etc. What happened then? Why did he do nothing? Who got in his ear? It wasn't until 2 years later that Calabria got in there and made matter worse with his insane capital retention levels.
Until Bessent or the FHFA actually do something besides talk, which I hope beyond hope that they do, it's going to swing like a pendulum. I hope Bessent and Pulte are up to the challenge, because Mnuchin and Calabria were not only not up to it, but set hurdles that would take a decade to jump.
