I find the story about buying a building for a church to be interesting.
I have a friend who was once in the business of selling telephone systems. He was doing a presentation to a city manager (a guy I know to be as corrupt as they come) and after the pitch was completed the manager told the phone guy that the deal could be steered his way as long as his did the manager a "favor."
That favor was to build extra profit into the sale of the city phone system so the phone vendor could "donate" a phone system to the city manager's church.
Corruption in the name of religion.
P.S. My friend did not put in a bid. Presumably the company that won the bid had no qualms about providing a freebie to the church. Paid for by the city taxpayers.
