I suspect the military is further along with robotics than we know. After all drone targeting and strike capabilities are rudimentary AI.

I could see a robotic squad that would walk point with armaments that machine vison would enable them to open fire accurately with from a safe distance. Let's give them laser sighting to scare the shit out the enemy when they see the red dot on their chest from way too far way to do anything but shit themselves. 😏

Radar would keep an 'eye' out overhead and sensors would detect mines before they're underfoot.

Also let's give them broken field running capability that would break a DB's ankles.
