Glad you are enjoying the air show. It is the shiny object portion of the integrated fire suppression efforts. As you watch the exciting footage, you should note that the large airplane VLATs are doing trail drops and presuppression lines in the wildland portion of the fire, and not in subdivisions or urban areas. The air attack in urban settings are rotary wing craft such as internally tanked Skycranes, Chinooks, etc. and smaller helicopters with collapsible Bambi buckets, due to their precision. I am sure you noticed that.

However, your wild fires are about to become history is a bit premature since the fires are still active and largely uncontained with gusty winds coming again today. If you meant it in a larger context, the joke is on you. California will suddenly not be devoid of wildfires just because the MAFF units show up a week late. Glad you referenced them, they are US Forest Service supplied and are inserted in military aircraft as needed.

MAFFS stands for Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems, which are portable fire-retardant delivery systems used by the U.S. Forest Service. MAFFS units can be loaded onto military aircraft, such as the C-130, without major structural changes.

Anyway, looks like your city should be safe from this siege, I do not wish fire loss on anyone.
