$IONQ presented at CES - I edited Will Riches 13 minute video down to the most important 2 mins.
Here are the takeaways:
1. Largely scalable quantum solutions are 12-18 months away. (Not 15-30 years).
2. Optimism - very high.
3. Focus is now shifting from hardware to software for many the quantum names in preparation to scale.
4. Agentic framework will allow humans to interact with quantum computers without having know anything about quantum computers. “ You describe a goal - you get a solution”.
5. Biotech should see its largest breakthroughs with quantum computers. Cancers, Vaccines - expect breakthroughs in the near future.
6. Example of how a battery company (unnamed) was able to take 32,000,000 data points and narrow it down to 8 options using quantum computing immediately (no time). From those 8 options the company was able optimize the lithium ion battery to increase it efficiency by 70%.
7. Applications and Algorithms will see a combination of CPU + GPU + Quantum.
8. $IONQ $IBM and Quantinum lead the conversation.
Here is my take:
1. Rate of acceleration for quantum will be near vertical. Breakthroughs will seem to come every week as quantum computers start to solve their own problems .
2. We are in a quantum race with China. They will use QC against the west when they are capable. We need to take this as a
matter of national security.
3. Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) will be just as large as the QC market.
