Hello trunkmonk,
I'm back to share my joy that things are finally moving forward here.
I hope for a release by consent decree in the first 100 days. That would take the wind out of the sails of all opponents and give Congress motivation to vote on an explicit MBS guarantee. Fannie and Freddie have been paying a few basis points to treasury for many years. Just like that. Taking those basis points and legally guaranteeing the MBS would be a good idea and would reassure the markets. If I were Trump's advisor, that's exactly what I would suggest.
I am from Germany, right. 🇩🇪
Economic concerns and migration policy are currently dominating the public debate: high energy prices, company bankruptcies and company departures as well as so many migrants that no one knows where to house them. Temporary camps are being set up in school sports halls and hotels are being rented in their entirety by local authorities to accommodate these people. All these discussions strengthen the far-right party AfD, which I believe is incapable of governing. But so was our last governing coalition, which collapsed shortly after Trump's election victory and we now have new elections in February.
But it's not all bad in Germany. We are a very strong country and will overcome these problems. You can bank on that!
