I've seen lots of posts from people saying that the results of the election has caused all kinds of problems including one commercial office building owner who said he had a contract to gut/renovate 3 floors of space in preparation for a new tenant. The building owner paid some existing small tenants to relocate to other floors in the building so he could have the 3 full floors available for the new tenant. The gut/renovation was to start in December and finish by March.
The contractor who was supposed to do the work emailed the building owner saying that he has been unable to acquire the materials necessary to move forward because inventory was bought up by other contractors anticipating higher prices due to...tariffs. The contractor said he would need to renegotiate the contract based on higher material prices and projected completion could run to the end of 2024.
True or not, these kinds of stories will become commonplace.
