North Korea, world leader in digging military tunnels, will send thousands of engineering troops to Russian-occupied Ukraine this summer, reports South Korean TV channel Chosun. The destination would be Donetsk, a front line region with a 150-year history of coal mining.
Regarding the headline below. Why use China send the North Koreans from Donetsk to tunnel to Crimea.
And an extra added bonus would be to use the talented multitasking North Koreans to enhance the huge still unmapped tunnels under Odessa and extend them to Transnistria and Moldova. A tunnel under the Kerch straight would be a daunting task but a good future investment as would be a Jack-in-the Box surprise in Transnistria or Moldova.
The Hermit Kingdom built a massive network of clandestine tunnels unlike any other in the world. Designed as a means to mount a massive military invasion from the north, the tunnels are “large enough to shuttle through an entire military division per hour,” according to Popular Mechanics. GlobalSecurity.org estimates that Pyongyang has built up to 20 tunnels that snake through the Demilitarized Zone. https://foreignpolicy.com/2013/04/29/7-things-north-korea-is-really-good-at/
I am only supposing but would really be tempted to put this North Korean talent to use. Tunneling takes a fair amount of time but if started, do we really know when or where?
