I was trying to find somewhere the total number of shareholders of record as of.... Any date.

That is difficult to do. As I said before, you could try calling or writing to the transfer agent. But the question of who counts as a "shareholder of record" has never really been cleared up.

MULN says it has 66 institutional shareholders; ones that file Schedules 13. But obviously there're many more shareholders than that. And to make things worse, there's this:
