In my lifetime I met two of these children of parents that came to America. Their parents might have been Vietnamese, but the children grew up American. Just like I saw in my neighborhood after World War II. As a child I grew up with families that managed to flee European countries after World War II. It was never an easy process for any immigrant to leave their country of origin and come to America for a new start. But that is what people do to become an American.

My mother's family came from Germany 1881, I know I still have the New York Times newspaper clipping of the boat with their names listed, along my Grandfather's Citizenship, it is one of my proudest artifacts that hangs in my office.

Springfield, Ohio will be changed, I have watched that happened my entire life, new cultures flee a country and settle in one area. in America, It is hard, becoming an American is never easy, the first-generation years for the old country and old traditions. The new generation adopts to the new language, and becoming Americanized, by the third generation, guess what, they are Americans of whatever decent. That's what being an American is all about.

You so desperately want to be right about something, why does it matter so much. As a boy, I remember the Jewish neighborhood, the Italian neighborhood, and so many others, eventually these neighborhoods faded over the years to a blend of everyone from everywhere.
