Hiru's connection to Avebury is pretty clear, despite their claims there is no connection.

The big issue is the sales price (they tried a couple of stink-bids that didn't fly), and the concern of Tasmanians that ownership & control of the asset will go to foreigners. As much as they'd like their jobs back (if and when nickel prices recover) Aussies, like most country's folks, don't like to see their resources end up in foreigners hands, no different than Americans or Canadians.

So, IMO, Hiru acquiring Avebury, unless they pay an extraordinary premium, is unlikely.
So, what else do they have? Balfour is an early-stage exploration play, no disputing it, and is unlikely to become a mine anytime soon, if ever - exploration is gamble; sometimes you win, most times you don't.
Anything else? Without mines, or even development projects, Hiru is not a 'mining company'.
