It seems on some they purposely do something to the audio, my feeling is could be to make male voices, particularly, huskier. That's likely all wrong. Seems almost like a tiny echo, or something. I hit a wrong button the other day and got an audio describing all background noises which the article said closed caption does in print. Tolerated it for a time before finally finding the button to turn it off again, so maybe i have closed caption on my tv too. Will have a look.
