And explain people like Janice and others all gushing how well Biden did last night, just weeks after a one hour 'horrible' debate? Really? Week before debate talking clear and strong, every public appearance and off camera WH session since the debate everyone says how confident and striding he is?
No, not exactly. Evidently quite a few people in or close to the administration were concerned by what they saw as occasional lapses on Biden's part. It was said those people included European leaders who were unnerved by his occasional blank stares. A lot of people wondered if he had Parkinson's. It was just not possible to come away from the debate without worries.
And then he did the interview with Stephanopoulos, and something else, and then the press conference. The last was the most successful. At the others, he seemed uncertain and tentative. The whole thing was painful, but the resolution is a success. As he said last night, winning this election is the important thing.
I think he enjoyed giving that speech, and I suspect he may feel relieved. He can now finish up his term, and--fingers crossed we win in November--become a Senior Statesman. Kamala can ask him to work on foreign policy stuff, the way Jimmy Carter did after he left office.
