Many shorts are also long shareholders as playing both sides and using their long positions to manipulate the stock moves and if you happen to own shares when dividends were issued then you got some also but did you try to contact your broker to find out why the first dividend after over 1 year later is still restricted? IR guy said company did everything to un restrict the shares that they needed to do, Transfer agent said all is done and shares should have been unrestricted yet the brokers giving every excuse in the books not to make it happen. Even after requesting fees for it and few agreed still not done.
Call your brokers and try to get them unrestricted then share your findings.
