I think the Trump administration shut off the light at the end of the tunnel, and removed any illusion that anyone was going to negotiate with the Palestinians. Israel simply said, "Fuck you. We're taking it all... Die." In reality that was always the plan.
Again, in 70 years, the basic statement has never changed.
And the Trump administration said, "Cool... Go ahead."
From the Palestinian perspective, there is no longer anything to lose. They are all dead or exiled, both in Gaza and the West Bank. And from Israel's perspective, I'm sure it's a relief to take off the hood... I mean mask, and be the murderous ethnic cleansing monster they always pretended not to be.
