Hardly invented to be a novelty, the idea that kicked it off was for underdeveloped counties with unsanitary conditions......Cost is still a problem for that use.....other models deal with the piss problem and some turn it into fertilizer...

The flush toilet hasn't changed much since it was invented in 1596 by Sir John Harington," said the foundation in a statement.
