Who determines appropriate force on an attacker who breaks a ceasefire and commits war crimes on innocents? So, if Hamas fires 3000 missiles indiscriminately at Israel (which they did), it would be "appropriate" for Israel to fire 3000 rockets indiscriminately back at Gaza? How many Israeli children would be dead if the Iron Dome didn't exist or malfunctioned? You seem to honestly not give a thought or a shit about this, that Hamas specifically targets civilians.
And you still avoid the central issue. How should Israel have responded? How do they negotiate with a death cult? You're very good on what they shouldn't be doing but not so much on what they should. Here in the U.S., that's commonly referred to as Monday Morning Quarterbacking.
And again, if Mexico fired 3000 missiles at Texas and attacked kids at the SXSW festival, what do you suppose the American response would be?
