No one knows when a stock will deliver significant gains better than the company's senior executives and board members (insiders).

They see and hear everything before the general public (earnings reports, mergers, acquisitions, market trends, etc.) and they can use that information, within reason, to reinvest within their company stock price.

Take CNX Resources, a Natural Gas resources company.

At the time of this writing, the stock is up over 33% in the last six months, which happened after a board member bought some shares in June. What better vote of confidence in a stock than a purchase from someone that knows what is really going on inside.
