And many of the coups, at least, used to be were designed, financed and encouraged by the U.S, and or other colonial powers. Some suggest the colonial powers of Africa, while preparing for and in the process of granting independence, set Africa up for unrest after they left. By creating inequality by favoring one tribe against all others. By drawing borders to divide tribal groups. Why? Control, power and natural resources, of course. Setting the stage for continued exploitation was always at least part of the game in many influential minds. Africa is slowly moving themselves past post colonial trauma.
