About twenty years ago, the 3-year-old daughter of someone we knew developed leukemia. A bone marrow transplant and radiation cured it, but the child went on to develop another cancer which took her life.

People forget how lethal chemotherapy and radiation therapy is, or was, and that you only give it to those with few options.
