Most primary (grade school/middle school) and secondary (high school) teachers in public schools in the US belong to a teachers union. There are two biggies...

As far as I know, US college professors do not belong to any union, but instructors the last few years (i.e., the underpaid unrecognized folk who actually spend more time with college students) have been making a lot of noise trying to form unions, but as far as I know, still none at the college level, except perhaps for support staff such as janitors, food service, etc.
